However, these steps may vary slightly depending on the state and the portal.


West Bengal




  • Visit the of West Bengal.



  • Click on \"Apply Online\" link under \"Online Application\" section.



  • Create a new account in the portal or log in with your existing account.



  • Fill in the details in the online form such as name, address, contact details, personal details, local reference details, etc.



  • Verify all the details you have filled in the online form and if you agree with terms and conditions click \"Submit\" button.



  • Upload the scanned copies of documents such as identity proof, address proof, income proof, etc. and click \"Submit\" button.



  • Once submitted, you will get an acknowledgement slip along with an application number. You can take a print out of the acknowledgement slip or save it offline.



  • You can also check the status of your application online by clicking on \"Check Status\" link under \"Online Application\" section. You will need your application number for that.



  • After the verification is done successfully, you will receive an SMS or email notification about the approval of your caste certificate. You can then download your caste certificate online by following the steps given below.

Other states




If you belong to any other state that does not have an online portal for applying for a caste certificate, you can still apply online through the of the central government. The steps are similar to the ones mentioned above, except that you need to select your state and district from the drop-down menu before filling in the online form. You also need to select the service name as \"Caste Certificate\" from the list of services available. The rest of the steps are same as above.


How to apply for a caste certificate offline in any state?




If you are not comfortable with applying for a caste certificate online, or if you do not have access to internet or computer, you can also apply for a caste certificate offline by visiting your nearest tehsil office, revenue office, or backward class welfare office. You need to follow the steps given below:


Documents required for offline application




You need to carry the following documents with you when you apply for a caste certificate offline:


  • A duly filled and signed application form (you can get it from the office or download it from the state portal)



  • A self-attested copy of identity proof such as Aadhaar card, PAN card, voter ID card, etc.



  • A self-attested copy of address proof such as ration card, electricity bill, water bill, etc.



  • A self-attested copy of caste proof such as old caste certificate, family tree, community certificate, etc.



  • A self-attested copy of income proof such as salary slip, income tax return, etc. (if applicable)



  • Two passport size photographs



  • An affidavit sworn before a magistrate or notary public stating your caste and other details



Steps to follow for offline application




  • Visit your nearest tehsil office, revenue office, or backward class welfare office and get the application form for caste certificate. You can also download it from the state portal and print it out.



  • Fill in the details in the application form such as name, address, contact details, personal details, caste details, etc.



  • Attach the self-attested copies of documents and photographs along with the application form.



  • Submit the application form and documents to the concerned authority and pay the prescribed fee (if any).



  • Collect the acknowledgement slip or receipt from the authority. It will have your application number and date of submission.



  • You can check the status of your application offline by visiting the same office where you submitted your application. You will need your acknowledgement slip or receipt for that.
